Festival No.6 was Festival number 14 for Bird to Beast and truth be told it was the one we were most looking forward to!
Having performed at two (and sometimes three) festivals most weekends this summer and having very little time to let all the festival fun truly sink in, it was an exciting prospect to be able to stay for the whole festival weekend and get the chance to have a laugh and watch some great music. So we let loose and had an absolute blast with good friends and great musicians!
Portmeirion is an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ type place famous for its characterful, colourful houses and gardens. It was made famous acting as the setting for ‘The Prisoner’ TV series in the 60′s and it’s safe to say we were in our absolute element there!
We played in the Town Hall on the Friday evening just before sunset and it was a beautiful building with high ornate ceilings and perfect acoustics. The crowd were attentive and lovely and we felt truly blessed to have the the experience of playing at our new favourite festival!
Amongst other things we listened to Gypsy Jazz whilst paddling in the pool, danced to disco classics with fellow musicians and artists until 4am and watched a Male voice choir by twilight whilst weeping into our cider!
We also had the privilege of watching the mighty Beck perform his Saturday headline set which was packed with his greatest hits. Him and his band were incredible!
So, after an inspiring, debauched and sleep deprived few days we are now finishing off the festival season with a couple more shows and getting our heads into studio mode for the next album. On Friday 19th September we’re playing Ramsbottom Festival and then we’re supporting Laura Veirs at the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge on Sunday 12th October.
See you soon.
